Brent A. Shook, MD
Dr. Brent A. Shook specializes in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. Although trained in both dermatology and cosmetic surgery, Dr. Shook’s primary interest lies in providing patients who develop skin cancer with the gold standard of treatment for their skin cancer, Mohs micrographic surgery.
Raised in northwest Houston, Dr. Shook is a graduate of Klein High School. He graduated summa cum laude from East Texas Baptist University before attending Texas Tech University School of Medicine where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical Honor Society. He then completed his internship and dermatology residency at Texas Tech University. Following residency, Dr. Shook completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Cutaneous Oncology, Laser and Reconstructive Surgery at the Laser and Dermatologic Surgery Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Shook is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He also holds active membership in numerous medical societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Shook has made substantial contributions to the medical literature in journals such as the Archives of Dermatology, The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Cutis and Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics, among others. Dr. Shook is happily married to his beautiful wife, Audrey, who also grew up in Northwest Houston and graduated from the John Cooper School in The Woodlands. The Shook’s have nine wonderful children, Caroline, Annie, Harrison, Grayson, Maggie, Lucy, Henry, Eloise and Poppy.
Robert Cook-Norris, MD
Dr. Robert Cook-Norris is a board-certified dermatologist and specialist in skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. He grew up in Ft. Worth, Tx and graduated with honors from University of North Texas. Dr. Cook-Norris attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine where he was in the top 5 of his class and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Honor Society. He then completed his internal medicine internship, dermatology residency, and fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Cutaneous Oncology, Laser and Reconstructive Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Dr. Cook-Norris has currently authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles and chapters on dermatology, skin cancer, and skin cancer surgery. He has presented at numerous local, national, and international medical conferences. Dr. Cook-Norris is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
Dr. Cook-Norris is dedicated to his faith and family; his spouse Lyanne, and six beautiful children.
Susannah Andrews, MMS, PA-C
Susannah Andrews, MMS, PA-C, has been a dermatology physician assistant since 2001. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology/pre-medicine and then earned a Master of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University. In addition, she completed a postgraduate dermatology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, which was the only Physician Assistant Dermatology Residency program in the nation. She is one of a select few physician assistants in the country chosen to complete this competitive program.
Susannah is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed as a physician assistant by the Texas Medical Board. She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.
Michelle Purtle, MPAS, PA-C
Michelle Purtle is passionate about early detection of skin cancers, and encourages all patients to ask for a thorough skin examination at least once a year. She also enjoys treating a variety of skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, warts, and eczema.
Michelle is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and the Baylor College of Medicine Physician Assistant program. She brings over years of dermatology experience, treating patients of all ages. She serves as a clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine, and has been recognized as a diplomat to the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Melissa Shearer, MPAS, PA-C
Melissa Shearer, PA-C, graduated from Texas A&M University and then received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Melissa has been practicing in the field of dermatology since 2010, and she is passionate about preventing and treating skin cancer after her personal experience with melanoma. She enjoys providing excellent care in general dermatology, cosmetic procedures, and surgical procedures. Melissa is a skilled injector of Botox, Dysport, and dermal fillers. She desires for all patients to love their skin!
Melissa is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed as a physician assistant by the Texas Medical Board. She is recognized as a diplomate of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Melissa authored the peer-reviewed article “Sentinel Node Biopsy Should be Offered in Thin Melanomas with Mitotic Rate Greater than One” in Dermatologic Surgery.
Melissa is married to her husband Ryan, and they are blessed with five children- three boys and two girls.
Jessica Rushing, PA-C
Jessica is a certified physician assistant who graduated from Austin College in Sherman, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She went on to receive her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas.
Jessica has been practicing in the field of dermatology since 2014 and has acquired knowledge and experience in general dermatology as well as cosmetic and surgical procedures.
Jessica looks forward to being able to provide lifelong skin care for her patients.
